Viking took the lead three times in regular time, but Raufoss equalized each time. Also in extra time, the home team managed to come back against the favorites after Niklas Sandberg sent the Vikings up 4–3.

Kodjo Somesi ensured another equalizer for the home team ten minutes before the end, and the whole thing was to be decided on a penalty shootout.

Vikings Niklas Sandberg had scored twice in the match itself, but could not outwit Raufoss goalkeeper Ole Kristian Lauvli in the penalty shootout. The latter was well prepared:

– We have made it a habit to write down offenders on the water bottle. And there it said that Sandberg had shot to my right and Svendsen to the left. It sounded good. I actually have a pretty bad “record” on penalties, Lauvli reveals to VG on Wednesday evening.

Svendsen’s first name is Sander and was thus the second Viking player to miss. It didn’t help that Viljar Vevatne scored on his. The Obosliga players from Raufoss scored on all theirs. 18-year-old Aridon Racaj scored the decisive goal – and the boys in yellow and black could celebrate a quarter-final place against Kjelsås from level three.

– It was completely foggy for most people today. Scenes of jubilation that you rarely see here. We topped it off with some Viking songs in the dressing room when we came down, says the goalkeeper hero with a smile.

– And what do you think of the draw? Are we talking about semi-finals for Raufoss now?

– I actually think most people were hoping for an elite series team, to get a home game. But sportingly, Kjelsås is probably the best team to get. But I have played away against Kjelsås and lost like that, points out Ole Kristian Lauvli.

The club has played semi-finals in the cup before: In 1977 they met Lillestrøm in the “match of the ages” at Raufoss. Led by Tom Lund, LSK won both the Raufoss stadium (3–1) at Ullevaal in the final against Bodø/Glimt that year.

The quarter-final between Kjelsås and Raufoss will be played on 12 July in Oslo. The newcomers also reached the NM quarter-finals in 1972, 1974, 1999 and 2003.
