After a good spring season, there has been a lot of interest in our striker Kristian Lien in recent months. There has been interest from both at home and abroad, confirms chairman Tom Henrik Rogstad.

And it is with pleasure and pride that MIF can now inform about an agreement with Dutch FC Groningen and a permanent transfer for Kristian Lien.

Chairman Tom Henrik Rogstad can say that we are now making a historic sale.

– Kristian has performed match after match and is taking a holiday as top scorer in the OBOS league. We as a club must not stand in the way of our young talents – when the right opportunity presents itself. There has been interest from several clubs, but FC Groningen really wanted Kristian. The dialogue with FC Groningen has been good – and so has the dialogue Bjørn Petter Ingebretsen and I have had with Kristian and his agent Mikail Adampour. Again, Mjøndalen shows that we are a selling club and a club that young talents can confidently look to in order to take the next step, says Rogstad.

This is the third player MIF has sold in Europe in two years. Earlier, Sondre Solholm Johansen got the opportunity in Scottish Motherwell, while Lars Olden Larsen was sold to Nizhny Novgorod. All these transfers show that MIF works well with player development.

Personal conditions and a medical test remain before Lien joins his new club.
