Mohammed Hopsdal Abbas (23) is a new defensive asset and will join the squad that will face Hødd at the YMCA Arena on Wednesday afternoon.

Abbas originally comes from Holmlia, but has played the last few seasons for Nordstrand. He ends his stay at Niffen after playing 54 games in the 3rd division for our neighboring club, who have again shown that they develop players who get to try themselves at a higher level.

– In Abbas we are getting a player with good speed, something we have been looking for and good qualities in the 1vs1 game defensively. He is initially brought in as a stopper, but can also play at both right and left back. We have had and have a good collaboration with Nordstrand, and once again they can send a player up in the division system. It shows that they work well and that Nordstrand is a good place to develop as a footballer, says Daniel Fredheim Holm, who heads the player logistics around our first team.

Abbas is grateful for the time in Nordstrand, but is looking forward to getting down to business. He had his first training session as a YMCA player at Ekeberg today.

– I have been and trained here earlier this winter, but it feels even better to be here as a Kåffa player. I have been well looked after by the players and coaches, and it felt very good to have my first session here as a Kåffa player, says the 23-year-old.

He has great ambitions, both as a player and on behalf of the team.

– The ambition is primarily to move up with the club, I think that is the ambition of all the players here. I want to play my part in the eleven and work every day for it, he says.

We welcome Abbas and look forward to seeing him in red and white.
